Market Insights Reference

This document is a reference for the Market Insights screen of the ADP Car Market Hub plugin (Car Market Hub → Market Insights). It explains how access is governed by your plugin license, the Managed Access card, the Market Dashboard summary, the Price Analysis table, the per-vehicle Insights modal and how each vehicle's market position is classified.

When to use this document

Use this reference if you need to evaluate how your inventory is priced relative to the market, change the regional comparison market, refresh Market Hub data for individual vehicles, or understand the detailed market intelligence shown for a single vehicle.

Overview

Market Insights compares each of your live vehicles against market data for comparable listings and classifies its price position. The plugin shows a My Price versus Market Price gap for every vehicle and tags it as Competitive, Fair Price, Above Market or Overpriced.

Access to Market Insights is managed entirely by your ADP Car Market Hub license. When the feature is included in your license, the screen is active automatically — there is no API key to enter and no connection to configure. If the feature is not included in your license, the whole tab is replaced by a locked-feature card (see below).

The screen contains, in order:

  1. Managed Access — an intro card showing your current access status and access details.
  2. Market Settings — the regional comparison market (target market).
  3. Market Dashboard — KPI tiles with one-click filters into the Price Analysis table.
  4. Price Analysis — searchable, paginated table of vehicles with per-row actions and a per-vehicle Insights modal.

Note: market data is currently provided from a local demo data layer until the ADP Car Market Hub Intelligence backend is connected. The screen, classifications and the Insights modal all behave exactly as they will with live data.

Requirements or prerequisites

  • A plugin license that includes the Market Insights feature right ("Included in this license").
  • A target market that matches the comparison region you want to use.
  • At least one published vehicle in the inventory.
  • Permission to manage the plugin.

Step by step instructions

Confirm access (Managed Access card)

  1. Open Car Market Hub → Market Insights.
  2. The Managed Access card at the top shows an Active status badge and the title "Market Insights access is active".
  3. Review the Access details table to confirm the data source and target market. There is no separate API key to enter here.

If your license does not include Market Insights, the tab is replaced by a "Market Insights is not included in this license" card instead — see Feature-locked state.

Choose the comparison market (Market Settings)

  1. In Market Settings, pick a Target Market from the dropdown.
  2. Click Save Market settings.

Use the Market Dashboard filters

  1. Look at the four cards in Market Dashboard: - Avg. Deviation — average absolute price gap vs. market median (informational). - Competitive Assets — count of vehicles ≤ −4% vs. median. - Fair Assets — count of vehicles within −4% to +3% of median. - Overpriced Assets — count of vehicles > +3% vs. median.
  2. Click any of the three count cards to filter the Price Analysis table to that segment.
  3. Click again or use the search bar's Clear action to reset.

Work with the Price Analysis table

  1. Use the search box to filter by vehicle title or ID.
  2. The table shows Vehicle, My Price, Market Price, Difference %, Status, Last Sync and Actions for each vehicle.
  3. Per row, click the Insights (chart) icon to open the detailed market intelligence breakdown for that vehicle (see The Insights modal).
  4. Per row, click the Refresh market data (circular arrows) icon to refresh the comparison data for that single vehicle.
  5. To refresh several vehicles at once, select them, choose Update from Hub in the bulk action dropdown, then click Apply.

Feature-locked state

When your license does not include Market Insights, the entire tab is replaced by a "Market Insights is not included in this license" card. Nothing is broken — the menu item and page stay visible, but no market data is loaded and the Market Settings selector is hidden. Contact ADP Car Market Hub support to enable market comparison intelligence for your inventory.

The Insights modal

The per-row Insights action opens a detailed breakdown for a single vehicle. It contains:

  • 6 KPI cards — Price vs Median, Market Status, Market Sample (number of comparable listings), Last Market Update, Demand Signal (vehicle attractiveness) and Market Activity (segment comparison activity).
  • Price Position gauge — a horizontal scale from Min to Median to Max with a My Price pin showing where your price sits in the comparable range.
  • Demand Signal and Market Activity interpretations — short explanations of how attractive the vehicle appears and how active the comparison segment is.
  • Recommended Action — a suggested next step based on the assessment.
  • How this assessment is calculated — a transparency note explaining which signals (model, year, mileage, comparable listings, pricing context, activity indicators) feed the assessment and which classification thresholds apply.

Operational notes

  • Access is governed by the plugin license feature right, not by any customer-entered key. There is no key to enter, rotate or troubleshoot.
  • Comparison data is fetched on demand and may be cached. Use the per-row Refresh market data action, or the bulk Update from Hub, if you need fresh values.
  • Classification thresholds are fixed in the plugin: ≤ −4% = Competitive, > −4% and ≤ +3% = Fair, > +3% = Overpriced. Vehicles without comparable data show the (no data) badge.
  • The target market controls which regional dataset is used. Changing it affects all subsequent comparisons.
  • Market data is currently sourced from a local demo data layer until the ADP Car Market Hub Intelligence backend is connected.

Troubleshooting

  • The whole tab shows a "not included in this license" card. Market Insights is not part of your current license. Contact ADP Car Market Hub support to enable it.
  • All vehicles show "—" (no data). The selected target market may not have comparable listings for your inventory. Try a different market or use Update from Hub for a few representative vehicles.
  • Counts on the dashboard do not match the table after filtering. Filtered counts respect the current search; clear the search to see the totals.
  • Refresh or Update from Hub does not seem to change values. Allow a moment for the cache to clear and the page to reload. If a vehicle is missing required fields it may not return comparable data.
  • Difference % values look unexpected. They are computed against the market median, not the average. Outlier listings can move the median. Use the per-row Insights view and the Price Position gauge to inspect where your price sits versus Min, Median and Max.
